Cummins Filtration Ltd. started the business in Korea as a JV for filtration. Now an affiliate of Cummins, it provides advanced filter media and key engine components such as Filters, Turbochargers, Aftertreatment, and Fuel systems to Doosan Infracore, Tata Daewoo, Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Construction Equipment, Volvo Group, DAF Trucks, Komatsu, Daimler Trucks, and many more Korean and international clients.

Since Cummins Filtration Suwon Plant was established in Suwon Industrial Complex in June 2011, we have manufactured and exported advanced filter media for liquid and air filtration. The eco-friendly Suwon Plant oversees advanced processes that meet global standards. It acquired industrial certificates such as ISO 9001 (quality), 14001 (environment), and ISO1800 (safety). Currently, a total of 60 employees work in collaboration and mutual respect in departments of safety, business planning, engineering, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and production support.

Cummins Component Business Unit owns a Turbocharger & Aftertreatment lab and a warehouse in Hwaseong in order to provide full support for technology and supply chains.

This is an exciting opportunity in Cummins Filtration Business (FBU) in Suwon. The role of the Senior Supplier Quality Improvement Engineer is reporting to APAC Quality leader and responsible for Selects, develops, manages, and ensures defect-free performance of the business' supplier base with the objective of overall quality improvement. Leads processes to drive improvements. Resolves supplier quality issues.

Thinking beyond your desk includes:

  • Participates in supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing process development.

  • Responsible for the supplier corrective action process including containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action.

  • Ensures suppliers use quality tools effectively.

  • Works with supplier to ensure all product requirements are met.

  • Oversees the supplier quality resources for new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier related issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.

  • Responsible for determining if all requirements are met by the supplier for new or changed products.

  • Measures supplier quality performance according to established procedures; drives appropriate improvements to meet established targets.

  • Facilitates continuous improvement activities to reduce defects.

Skills and experience required:


  • AIAG 5 Core Tools Expectation - AIAG 5 Core tools are seen as being fundamental in support of the automotive preferred quality system IATF 16949, and delivering satisfactoryproduct quality.

  • Basic Quality Tools - Use of Basic Quality Tools includes the ability to understand what quality tool is appropriate, ability to apply the Quality Tool, and the ability to analyze the datathat results from use of the tool. Simple tools include Pareto analysis, histograms, control charts. More complex tools include tools such as Design of Experiments and QualityFunction Deployment.

  • Statistical Foundations - Applies foundational statistical concepts required to run appropriate statistical tests and ensure the quality of data and correctness of the conclusions by using standard practices, choosing the right sample size, confidence level, level of significance, type of test; applies knowledge of statistics in cleansing or modeling such as outlier detection, survival analysis, time series, rank statistics, imputation, probability distribution fitting among many techniques.

  • Problem Solving - Solves problems using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.

  • Dimensional Metrology - Applies dimensional measurement science in the development and application of measurement/inspection processes that deliver capable measurement results, supporting design validation and conformity assessment meeting regulatory, customer and product requirements.

  • Quality System Management (ISO/IATF) - Guides in the practice and application of quality system standards required by international certification bodies, industry specific regulatory authorities and customer’s contractually specified requirements.

  • Supplier Quality Management - Leads all aspects of supplier quality management; helps develop strategy and collaborative supplier partnerships; identifies supplier innovation capabilities; contributes to supplier audit and certification process; tracks supplier performance metrics and acts to quickly resolve issues to improve supplier quality performance.

  • Project Issue and Risk Management - Manages the process to identify, assess and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and processes to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of negative events or to maximize the realization of positive events.


Education (Degree, Major, etc), Licenses, Certifications and Experience

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject required (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Industrial Engineering, etc)

  • Automotive related experience is preferred (over 3 years)

Language skill

  • English: Communication proficiency level

  • Chinese: Business proficiency level

  • Korean: Native
