HSE manager


  • Develops & leads the overall Health, Safety and Environmental Management System (HSEMS) for the site.

  • Responsibilities typically include the supervision of HSE Supervisors and Technicians, leading HSEMS Management Reviews with site leadership,training employees, interacting with regulatory agencies,leading pollution prevention efforts and health and safety management and control efforts,HSE objectives/targets, regulatory compliance, as well as maintaining HSEMS/ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 certification.

  • Anticipates, identifies and evaluates hazardous safety conditions and environmental risks.

  • Develops complex hazard control designs, methods, procedures and programs.

  • Implements, administers and advises others on hazard and risk control programs.

  • Interprets and applies internal and external standards in support of hazard and risk reduction and compliance.

  • Trains employees and other applicable personnel on HSE procedures, practices and controls.

  • Coaches and mentors HSE Supervisors and Technicians.



  • Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA) - Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.

  • Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interprets and applies international standards through practical application within the operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and external certification.

  • Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents.

  • Influence Health and Safety Culture - Champions positive health and safety behaviors by influencing leaders and employees to create the right environment.

  • Health, Safety and Environmental Emergency Preparedness and Response - Participates and coordinates the emergency action plan by applying relevant regulations and best practices in emergency management to effectively mitigate risk to life and adhere to regulatory requirements.

  • Ergonomic Fundamentals - Understands ergonomic concepts by applying Cummins ergonomic standards, guidelines, controls and tools to reduce ergonomic risk to employees while at work.

  • Implementation of Risk Controls - Selects and implements risk control methods by utilizing the hierarchy of controls to implement sustainable control measures in order to protect people by reducing overall risks to as low as reasonably practicable.

  • Management of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulatory Compliance - Identifies, interprets and manages legal and other requirements by implementing controls, monitoring and reporting on operational performance to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental related regulations and standards.

  • Industrial Hygiene Management - Designs and executes an industrial hygiene program by managing workplace exposure risks and implementing controls using Cummins preferred methodology and industry best practice to meet regulatory obligations and further reduce risk as low as reasonably practical to protect employee health.

  • Communicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.

  • Manages conflict - Handling conflict situations effectively, with a minimum of noise.

  • Change Management - Applies the Cummins structured process and tool set for engaging individuals and organizations through change to achieve and sustain business results and outcomes.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific field required.


Significant experience, including supervisory experience, required.

  • Strong HSE leadership experience in a large multi-national company (preferably American or European)

  • Expertise in Process Safety is required in Chemical, Textile, Pharma and/or Bulk drugs industry

  • HSE experience is preferred in Chemical, Textile, Pharma and/or Bulk drugs industry

  • Exceptional communication skills delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences

  • Strong mindset in HSE Regulatory Compliance by implementing controls and implementing operational performance to ensure compliance with HSE related regulations and standards both internally and externally.

  • Strong English skill in Written and Speaking is a must
