We are currently seeking an experienced Engineer to provide application expertise across the entire project life cycle for power generation in mining, construction, data center and health industry sectors. This will be following Hybrid work model, and it will also require travelling within Malaysia.

Based at our Puchong, Selangor branch and reporting to the Senior Power Generation Application Engineer, you will work closely with the sales and projects teams and support the design and delivery of engineered solutions for a range of customers.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Interacting with clients to determine their requirements and make informed recommendations.

  • Overseeing design reviews of different subsystems which comprise Power System Solution

  • Providing installation and commissioning documentation

  • Participating in commissioning activities and troubleshooting during installation phase

  • Offering application engineering expertise from tender phase through to installation


To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Human-machine integration and optimization - combining different components or subsystems into a single unit to achieve the most desired results for the customer; Apply Cummins' installation requirements using our standard tools, processes, and identified best practices to ensure optimized performance, reliability, cost, and quality; Analyze technical issues and resolve them quickly using proven problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Product Application Support - Ensure the availability of new product information by developing and managing accurate and complete technical content in a timely manner to support our customers and business; Supporting sales in all markets through management technology systems to provide new options; Identify installation requirements and develop innovative tools with in-depth, cross-system knowledge and industry experience for successful design and integration.

  • Product Capability Modeling, Simulation & Analysis - Influencing product design decisions by using and/or interpreting computational tools and methods to predict product functionality relative to system, subsystem, and/or part-level requirements.

  • Product Installation Quality - Identify and apply ways to improve human-machine integration to minimize rework and deliver the best product; Apply standard Cummins processes based on the experience and knowledge of product installation specialists; Ensure that the product is installed correctly and meets the requirements through the installation review process.

  • Product Problem Solving - Resolving product issues using processes that protect customers; identify non-random causes; implement robust, data-based solutions; and identify system root causes and recommended actions to take to prevent recurrence and provide customers with the best products for their market and application; By optimizing product specifications, Cummins products are easy to install into new applications, providing customers with the most suitable solutions.

  • Technical Account Management - Dealing with customers on behalf of Cummins by being the interface for all technical factors; Provide engineering data, documentation, and training to customers to support the design and integration of equipment; By using our change process and communicating regularly with our product development department and customers, we ensure that our customers' businesses are not disrupted by managing Cummins product changes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant engineering qualification (B.Eng in Electrical or Mechanical or equivalent)

  • At-least 2 years relevant experience required.

  • Have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to advise a diverse range of customers and build relationships.

  • A collaborative work approach, sharing knowledge and solutions with the national applications team.

  • Have the desire to develop into a subject matter expert.

  • Have some engineering background with project execution experience.

  • Provide leadership in commissioning activities and troubleshooting in power generation installations including power stations.

  • Seeing workplace safety as a value.

  • Able to interpret electrical and mechanical ACAD drawings such as SLD, P&ID and GA.

  • Self-motivated and highly organized, you must also be willing to travel frequently within the region.

Nice to have:

  • Bilingual to talk and read in Mandarin/English/Malay due to business/customer’s need.

  • Experience in the design and commissioning of control systems and communication networks

  • Previous experience in power generation design engineering.
