Customer Support Engineer - EBU


  • The Customer Quality Specialist will support the business to advocate for customers in resolving product quality, supply chain quality and process quality related issues.

  • Develops understanding of customer expectations and requirements for quality

  • Supports the vision and strategy for the Customer Quality organization, including definition of key performance metrics and goal tree initiatives.

  • Works to implement and close action plans for customer quality issues including product, supply chain, or process related.

  • Uses Customer Centric metrics to prioritize customer quality issues

  • Maintains external relationships and supports developing key quality communications, in some cases communicates externally

  • Contributes to process improvement efforts and may lead portions of workflows or processes


Education, Licenses, Certifications

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required Certified Green Belt preferred (Can be General, PPS, or 6S stats)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.


Intermediate level of experience required (3-5 years)

  1. Fluent communication skill by Japanese and English language

  2. Represents voices / top issues from Cummins, OEMs

  3. Have familiarity with key OEMs and knowledgeable on their business strategies, organizational structures, geographicfootprints, and internal service/quality processes to be aligned

  4. Be able to manage OEM customer disagreements / gap and coach others in order to help resolve difficult situations

  5. Develop and lead key OEM meetings as they relate to quality, product and service

  6. Work with Cummins Plant Customer Quality Teams to address and improve Before In Service issue

  7. Work with Global Customer Quality Team

  8. Work with Components Business counterparts to ensure all aspects of product are supported from One Cummins branded.

  9. OEM Reporting / Analysis / New Problem Creation – proactive and be clear about Top issue and status for those

  10. Cross regional proactive and reactive support for global OEM accounts as one Cummins
